Top Books to Start Healing Autoimmune

Since getting diagnosed with fibromyalgia, I had a lot of learning to do so that I could feel better. I didn’t want to keep laying on the couch all day. I was told by a lot of people how I could feel better, which was somewhere to start, but for me I’ve always had to read, read and read some more until I reached my own conclusions. I also just love reading… if you do too, then this is for you. Especially if you’re looking for ways to feel good.

  • Medical Medium: Secrets Behind Chronic and Mystery Illness and How to Finally Heal If you’ve never heard of the Medical Medium, he really is worth the read. He also has a podcast, too. Since a young age, spirit came to him with medical knowledge. Sounds crazy, I know, but when you hear Anthony speak and hear the knowledge he has to offer, and start utilising his protocol, you really will start to feel different and better. It’s really simple, which comes down to eating veg and fruit. His protocol involved celery juice, which I still need to start regularly incorporating into my daily routine.

  • Dough Nation. I was told my a friend with MS that I needed to immediately go on a gluten-free, anti-inflammatory diet. I did. Although giving up pasta once I had just started making it from scratch, and I loved bread… but I would do anything to feel better. I wasn’t living. So giving up gluten was done as soon as I was told it would make me feel better. Which, after now reading up on gluten and why it makes people sick, I have a totally different mid-set and now think EVERYONE should go gluten-free, mostly due to the chemical glyphosate widely being sprayed on grain. Anyways, I can go on and on about gluten. This book was very informative. A nurse was 40 years misdiagnosed, and nearly dead, as many different maladies instead of being diagnosed correctly with celiac disease. There are so multiple ways to get tested for celiac disease but there is only one gold standard test. The best way to diagnose yourself is to listen to your body intuitively. Do you feel lethargic after eating grain? Grain can be so many things by the way (meaning couscous, in sauces such as soy).

Do you have a skin rash? Flaky skin? Try going without gluten for a month (there are so many gluten-free good ways to go about this! I promise), and stick to it, so that means not even one crumb! It sounds insane, I know. My partner and I have now both went gluten-free entirely. This means also gluten-free beer. This book is a strong indication of how much you need to be paying attention to the power of the food you are eating, the lack of health care education regarding celiac disease, and how you can become your own health care advocate. This quote is so true,

“food is either the best medicine or the slowest form of poison.”

  • The Autoimmune Solution Another book by a M.D. with a similar health journey. Filled with recipes and facts surrounding autoimmune conditions and how to get better. It’s one I’ve read that’s helped to solidify the choices I’m making, regarding food and supplements.

  • Toxin Toxout I can’t go on more about how much I love this book because it is all backed up by science and it is easy to read. Easy, simple, proven ways to detox your life. Make sure you’re drinking filtered water, eating organic veggies, and buying the greenest products for your home. We’re home a lot of the time, so make it as healthy as it can be. It helps you think more about the couch you sit on and the products you use on your skin and in your home. Lourie and Smith investigate the truth behind organic foods, which detox methods actually work and indoor air quality. An easy way to live a healthier life. It really makes a difference.
